Can a visitor borrow books from a Hong Kong public library?#
Yes, with a temporary library card. Hong Kong Public Libraries say non-residents can apply in person at any public library with an adult Hong Kong resident as guarantor, who signs the "Guarantee" part. Bring a valid travel document, the guarantor's HKID (original or copy) and proof of residential address issued within the last three months. The page does not say whose.
Without a guarantor, non-residents aged 18 or above can borrow up to 10 items by paying a refundable HK$170 deposit per item. The card is valid up to the holder's limit of stay and can be extended in person at any branch. The deposit is claimed back in person with the original receipt and the card, within 11 years of the receipt date. The page carries no date.
